Van Gaal criticize United player publicly

Ben Amos criticised by Louis van Gaal

Manchester United recorded a second successive win under Louis van Gaal with victory over Roma on Saturday, but the new manager was far from pleased with the performance of his side at Denver’s Sports Authority Field.

Louis van Gaal not happy.

Roma fightback
Wayne Rooney scored either side of a goal by Juan Mata, which the England striker provided, but Van Gaal was left frustrated as Roma were able to reduce the deficit to only one goal when Manchester United had appeared comfortable.
The former Netherlands coach claimed all of his creative players “failed” to perform to his standards, while he was critical of the manner in which Roma first go on the scoresheet courtesy of Miralem Pjanic.
Pjanic goal irritates Van Gaal
While it was a goal that represented something of a once in a career moment for Pjanic, with the Bosnian firing in from his own half, it was a moment that will haunt Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos.
And as if Amos was not quite feeling sorry enough for himself already, the 24-year-old third-choice 'keeper also had to endure the criticism of his manager, who suggested even he would have saved Pjanic’s effort.
Van Gaal told reporters: “I am nearly 63 years old and I run when the ball is flying four seconds, 50 metres. What do you think?”

Two games remaining
Next up for Van Gaal and Manchester United is an encounter against Inter Milan at FedExField in Washington, before the face Real Madrid in Washington for the final game of this US tour.
It is a pre-season jaunt that would appear unlikely to be repeated in a year, with Van Gaal having already stated his displeasure at the amount of travelling involved - something at odds with comments made by Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
