The Red Devils boss has already completed deals to bring teenager Luke Shaw and Spanish ace Ander Herrera to the Theatre of Dreams, and it now appears that Blind could follow the duo in this transfer window.
Dutch
It's no surprise that new United boss Van Gaal has been linked with a number of Dutch stars in recent time after he led the national side to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Brazil. The report from The Express, has suggested that the Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Memphis Depay and Arjen Robben in recent time, but Blind now appears to be the man that could be reunited with Van Gaal.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fine stint at Ajax, having helped the club secure their fourth consecutive league title last term, Blind, who was also named the Dutch Footballer of the Year for 2014, would certainly be a major coup for United in this transfer window.
His versatility must be a major attraction for the new Manchester United boss, as the player can play in defence and midfield. He could, then, compete with youngster Luke Shaw in the left-back role or slot into the holding position in the middle of the park.
United defence
Manchester United fans will certainly be hoping the club improve defensively ahead of the start of the new season. Despite the signing of Shaw, United seemingly have a lack of options in their back-line after experienced trio Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra all departed the club.
Full-back Alex Buttner, who struggled to make an impression under David Moyes, was also shipped out this summer, meaning Shaw is United's only real first-team left-back at the club.
It's the central of defence, however, where the Red Devils are really struggling. The likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans are United's main centre-halfs, but all three have struggled with injuries and form in recent time.
Manchester United fans will certainly be hoping the likes of Blind and Co. arrive at the club before the Red Devils host Swansea City in their first league outing next month.
