Wayne Rooney has arrived in Los Angeles hoping to impress new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
United touched down in California on Friday ahead of Van Gaal's first game as manager against LA Galaxy on Wednesday.
Rooney is one of only a few senior players on the trip.
Michael Carrick has been left at home after undergoing ankle surgery while Robin van Persie has been given an extended break following the World Cup.
But Rooney is keen to use the summer tour of the United States to make an impression on Van Gaal.
The Dutchman is expected to use his favoured 4-3-3 system at Old Trafford next season, with Van Persie deployed as a central striker.
And that means Rooney could find himself nudged out wide to accommodate the former Arsenal man.
Rooney said: "Of course, we all have to go out there and show what we
can do and show every day in training what different qualities we have
as players and a team.
"Everyone wants to impress a new manager and that's what we're aiming to do."
