Manchester United could join the race for Marcos Rojo after Southampton saw their £11 million bid rejected with Sporting Lisbon looking for a bid around the £16 million region, Express reports.
The newly appointed Saints boss Ronald Koeman is trying to acquire more players in hopes of rebuilding a new squad after losing most of his star players.
Rojo revealed earlier that he was open to a move, gathering interest from a host of English Premier League clubs.
He said: “We still do not know what my future will be.
“For now I intend to return to Sporting on the 30th July, and then we’ll see.
“It is a matter for the club and my representatives. I’m cool.”
With Louis van Gaal deploying a 3-5-2 formation with the Red Devils next season, the Argentine World Cup star’s verstaility down the left flank makes him a very possible candidate to fill the role.
