Manchester United welcome Bayern Munich to Old Trafford tonight for the first leg of their quarter-final Champions League tie, knowing that a good result in the first leg will give them a fighting chance of still being able to capture their only trophy this year.There aren't many giving United much of a chance against the reigning European Champions, but David Moyes will put a side out looking to cause a potential upset.Here is a potential starting XI that Moyes may select.
Goalkeeper
David De Gea may be called upon regularly and will likely be a key man in any good result United get tonight.
Defence
Rafael has been passed fit for the fixture and so should start at right back alongside Nemanja Vidic and Phil Jones. Patrice Evra is suspended so Dutchman Alex Buttner will remain in the side in his absence, facing a huge test against fellow countryman Arjen Robben.Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans will face late fitness tests, but Rio Ferdinand is set to be named on the bench.
Midfield
Ryan Giggs impressed in the last round against Olympiakos and may be afforded another start against the German champions, hoping to unlock their defence, perhaps in place of Marouane Fellaini. Darren Fletcher's services may be called upon at some point, offering huge amounts of European experience.Antonio Valencia should return after injury, while an impressive performance from Shinji Kagawa on Saturday may see him put into his favoured number 10 role. Danny Welbeck is also in line to start.
Forwards
Wayne Rooney will be relied upon to deliver the goals as United look to breach the Bayern defence. Rooney will likely be put up top on his own with support from the midfield five to stop himself becoming isolated, with Danny Welbeck and Antonio Valencia offering support down both flanks.
