Manchester United in for £16m Argentine star after failed Southampton bid

  • Manchester United in for £16m Argentine star after failed Southampton bid

Manchester United could join the race for Marcos Rojo after Southampton saw their £11 million bid rejected with Sporting Lisbon looking for a bid around the £16 million region, Express reports.
The newly appointed Saints boss Ronald Koeman is trying to acquire more players in hopes of rebuilding a new squad after losing most of his star players.

He has already lost the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, and Dejan Lovren this summer and could lose even more after Morgan Schneiderlin as well as Jay Rodriguez are being linked with an exit.
Rojo revealed earlier that he was open to a move, gathering interest from a host of English Premier League clubs.
He said: “We still do not know what my future will be.
“For now I intend to return to Sporting on the 30th July, and then we’ll see.
“It is a matter for the club and my representatives. I’m cool.”
With Louis van Gaal deploying a 3-5-2 formation with the Red Devils next season, the Argentine World Cup star’s verstaility down the left flank makes him a very possible candidate to fill the role.
